The new Destiny game has broken the previous record held by Grand Theft Auto V, and became the most expensive video game ever produced. Well, that’s until another one is released.
Destiny’s budget is 2.5 times the amount that EA spent on developing Star Wars: The Old Republic, and nearly twice as much as what Rockstar Games spent on GTA 5.
A quick compassion between the game’s $500 million budget and let’s say, the most expensive film ever produced, (Pirates of the Caribbean: At World’s End) which had a budget of $300 million, the game even tops that.
Destiny was developed by Bungie and published by Activision, was released for the PS3, PS4, Xbox One, and the Xbox 360.
Released on September 9, 2014, the game takes place 700 in the future against a post-apocalyptic backdrop following a period of hi-tech progression called the Golden Age.
