2. The Aftermath of September 11, 2001: $1.1 trillion
Not as cruel as the wars from this top, The Aftermath of September 11, 2011, the U.S. engaged in a costly hunt set out to put down the group responsible for the deadly attacks in the New York and Washington, D.C.
They only had one thought and one thought only- to find the members responsible, the terrorist cell, called Al Qaeda, a thought that proved to be quite difficult.
It took until 2011 to find the evil mind behind the attacks, Osama bin Laden to be killed in Pakistan.
But the Americans also invaded Iraq again at the same time, moving into the country for supposedly posing a danger by creating a nuclear weapon.
The conflict in Iraq waged on until 2006, and ended with the death of Saddam Hussein. However, no nuclear weapons were ever found.
