Most Expensive World War II Items

#2 Victoria Cross Medal: $555,000

The Victoria Cross Medal is another expensive item from the World War II memorabilia.

It was given to a true hero. Fact: only 22 Australians were ever awarded in the WWII.

The Private Edward Kenna of the Australian 2/4th Battalion exposed himself to the risk of getting killed just to stop a Japanese machine gun during a battle.

It happened during a battle near Wewak, New Guinea in 1945, when despite the heavy machine gun fire; Private Edward K. managed to kill the machine gun crew to save his people.

I’m thinking it was like a battle you see on TV, but where the machine always wins.

The medal was sold for $1.1million at Noble Numismatics, July 28th 2011. Victoria Crosses are extremely collectible.
