Located in London, England, the bridge was constructed by engineer Sir John Wolfe Barry and architect Sir Horace Jones. They began the construction of the bridge in 1886.
After a year, Sir Horace Jones died, and the man who replaced him, George D. Stevenson, modified the design.
He decided that the bridge should have a more ornate Victorian Gothic style, instead of the original brick facade design.
It consists of 2 bridge towers tied together at the upper level by 2 horizontal walkways, as you already know.
Its present colour scheme dates from 1977, when it was painted blue, white and red for Queen Elizabeth II’s Silver Jubilee.
The iconic symbol of London, which crosses the River Thames, has a total length of 244 meters and it was opened to the public on June 30, 1894.
