5Peacock Watch by Chopard
Perhaps you know this watch. Designed by Japanese artist Kichiro Masumura, the Peacock watch features 18-carat rose gold and enamel, making it look exquisite.
Kichiro Masumura, who hold the itle of ‘Living National Treasure’ in his homeland, used some old lacquering techniques named Urushi and Maki-e, in order to create such masterpieces.
The Urushi method consists of successive application layers of Urushi tree sap. Then, the applied layers are sprayed with the metal of choice, in this case, gold.
A peacock and flowers pop from the background. The colors, as you can see, describe nature’s luxuriance.
