#5 San Francisco’s Tiled Steps, USA
Imagine 163 colorful stairs. You can find this amazing staircase on 16th Avenue, in the Southern end of San Francisco.
It’s such a masterpice and it’s about 15 minutes from Golden Gate Park.
The mosaic staircase was inspired by the famous stairs in Rio de Janeiro, but I think it looks more spectacular than the ones in Rio.
The steps reach 82 inches of height and it’s made from 2000 handmade tiles and 75.000 fragments of tile, stained glass and mirrors. This work of art was completed on August 18, 2004 with the help of 300 neighbours.
#4 Lello Bookshop, Portugal
Don’t you think this staircase looks like a roller coaster? They are build inside Lello Bookshop in Portugal, the oldest bookstore in the world, built in 1906 by the Lello Brothers, Jose and Antonio. These red stairs look majestic.
#3 Tiger and Turtle, Magic Mountain, Germany
The curved stairs lead nowhere. This 69 feet masterpiece was created by Heike Mutter and Ulrich Genth and is made from zinc and steel.
#2 Tulip Staircase, Queen’s House, England
This Tulip staircase has a lantern below. In case you didn’t know, the Queen’s House is a royal building constructed between 1616 – 1619 in Greenwich.
Apparently the Queen of England has a thing for flowers. The balustrades made from iron are embellished with fleurs-de-lis, the emblem of the Bourbon Family.
#1 Spiral Staircase, Vatican museum, Italy
This is our #1 from the world’s most luxurious staircases top list. And I think it looks very luxurious. This staircase was designed in 1932, by Giuseppe Momo.
The staircase has 2 spirals that form a double helical structure. Above the spirals is a glass ceiling. And the lights are quite beautiful too.
If you are in Vatican, you should definitely visit the Museum.
