#5 San Francisco’s Tiled Steps, USA

Imagine 163 colorful stairs. You can find this amazing staircase on 16th Avenue, in the Southern end of San Francisco.
It’s such a masterpice and it’s about 15 minutes from Golden Gate Park.

The mosaic staircase was inspired by the famous stairs in Rio de Janeiro, but I think it looks more spectacular than the ones in Rio.

The steps reach 82 inches of height and it’s made from 2000 handmade tiles and 75.000 fragments of tile, stained glass and mirrors. This work of art was completed on August 18, 2004 with the help of 300 neighbours.
