9. Víctor Manuel Gerena
Victor Manuel Gerena has been on FBI’s top ten fugitive list for more than three decades. He worked as a security guard in a security company. He was working at Wells Fargo bank, guarding the place with his co-worker, James McKeon.
Little did McKeon know, as he was working to protect the bank from intruders, the attack came from the inside. His own co-worker, the company’s own security guard, attacked the bank and heisted a total of $7 million. He was held hostage at gunpoint, tied, and injected with unknown substance to disable him.
It all happened in Connecticut, back in 1983. And it was the largest cash heist in U.S history by the time it took place. It was called the Aguila Blanca heist, or White Eagle, as it was named and constructed by Los Macheteros. That is a guerrilla group seeking Puerto Rican independence from the U.S.
Gerena fled the country and is believed to be living in Cuba. He is still one of the most wanted by FBI. And the bureau is offering a reward up to $1 million for any information directly leading to his arrest.
