Born in Baltimore, Maryland, she is the middle of three daughters of Suzanne and John Alexander Luetkemeyer, Jr., a commercial real estate developer.
Growing up in suburban Ruxton-Riderwood, Maryland, she attended Calvert School, then Garrison Forest School and Roland Park Country School. But she also went to St. George’s School in Newport, Rhode Island.
She studied at Brown University, where she majored in Italian Renaissance studies, and spend her junior year in Florence, Italy.
While in college, she starred in Guys and Dolls, Stage Door and Lemon Sky, before graduating. After she finished college, she had the lead role in the film Five Spot Jewel.
After having roles in the soap opera Loving and an episode of the Class of ’96, she went on and starred as the lead character in TV film, Runaway Daughters.
Then in Happy Gilmore, she played the love interest of the title character and went on to appear in films such as Multiplicity, and An American Werewolf in Paris.
