We will finish our list about the oldest fashion houses with Hermès!
Thierry Hermès was born in 1801 in Krefeld, Germany. After he lost his entire family to disease and war, he moved to France in 1821.
He established himself as a master craftsman while making harnesses which he sold to the carriage-makers of Champs-Élysées. Hermès become internationally known under Thierry’s grandsons, supplying the Imperial Court of Russia and other clients in South America.
After the First World War and demise of horse-drawn carriages, the fashion house began to manufacture leather goods like wallets, handbags and luggage.Since 1992, Hermès also produces clothing, costume jewellery and fragrances.
