5. Prada (1913)
The house of Prada was founded in 1913 by Mario Prada and his brother Martino, as a leather goods company and imported English steamer trunks and handbags.
The Prada name became internationally known in the 1970s when Miuccia Prada, Mario’s granddaughter took over.
Prada’s greatest success came in 1985 with the nylon bag. Nylon is known for its durable qualities that hold up in all weather conditions. Therefore, The Prada Nylon Bags continue to be one of the best sold lines of all times
The Miu Miu line was introduced in 1992 as a less expensive womenswear line inspired by Miuccia’s personal wardrobe and style.
The collection was named after her own nickname, Miu Miu. This line was followed by the first menswear collection, out in 1995.
