6- Jackson Pollock Painting From Thrift Store
Happened in 1990s when Teri Horton, a retired truck driver entered a thrift store and saw a strange painting.
She negotiated the price from $7 to $5 and then she decided to take it home for a close inspection and with the intention to give it to a friend as a gift.
But that didn’t happen. When an art teacher noticed the painting and its unique style believed that it could be a piece of work of Jackson Pollock.
Horton believed her and went to a mission to have the painting authenticated. She asked for the help of forensic experts because the auction houses did nothing to verify it.
The results were a partial fingerprint on the painting with some of Pollock’s work and it proved that it was genuine.
Although there is still intense debate over whether it’s authentic, she has since had numerous offers for the painting and it’s currently valued at $50 million by a Toronto gallery.
