2- Ancient Disc underneath a City
The next piece of valuable art was found in the year of 1978 when some electrical workers were digging up roads to insert a new wiring.
After just two meters they hit a large chunk of stone. It was a 20 tons rock in a shape of a giant stone disk with detailed carving that depicted the Aztec goddess Coyolxauhqui.
They carefully removed it and a search of the whole area for other lost work followed.
The consequences of the search were imminent. Few blocks of apartments needed to be demolished to make space for the archaeologists to work.
Eventually they found the site of an ancient Aztec temple that had been destroyed by Spanish colonial forces.
Most of the findings are now available in the Temple Mayor Museum, just a few yards from where the original disk was found.
