6. You Need a Bunch of Crew
Just like a car which needs mechanics, yacht needs a crew. The larger and the more complicated your yacht is, the more people you need to help you manage it.
First, you need a captain. Unless you know how your yacht works thoroughly, you need to hire one. In average, a captain is paid annually around $1,000 per foot. So, if you own a 150-foot-yacht, you need $150,000 for one captain only.
Then, you need an engineer to handle your yacht’s complex mechanical system. The annual salary of yacht engineer is around $90,000 to $130,000.
You also need deckhands for $30,000 to $50,000 per year. Those three are just the main crew for regular boats. A luxury yacht will need more.
