4. Not using it doesn’t mean not paying for it
We mentioned earlier that a jet is not meant to just sit around in a hangar. A plane needs to fly. And this is one of the reasons why. If you think not flying it means spending less money, you are wrong. You know some components need to be replaced regularly regardless its flight hour. So, flying or not, a private jet will cost you big time.
Even before you get to the maintenance, the first thing you need to figure out is where you are going to park it. Unless you own a super large garage with direct access to airport runway, you will need to rent a space at the airport hangar.
Some airports provide outside parking. It is way cheaper than public or private hangar. It costs only around $50 per month to park outside. But do you think it is wise to let your luxury machinery being exposed to extreme weather without proper protection?
Depending on the hangar’s size and location, the rental cost may vary. But averagely, a hangar like the one you saw on the picture above costs around $500 per month to rent. Boy, that is even more than what I pay for my apartment every month.
