This Superman actor began his acting career as Albert Mondego in a 2002 film adaptation of The Count of Monte Cristo.
Later on, he starred in minor and supporting roles in television shows such as The Inspector Lynley Mysteries from BBC, Midsomer Murders and The Tudors.
But that was before he claimed to more mainstream Hollywood films such as Tristan & Isolde, Stardust and Immortals.
In 2008, Dunhill fragrance named him the face and official spokesperson of the collection for men campaign.
He gained even more fame after playing the titular superhero Superman in the 2013 reboot film Man of Steel.
The film gained such an international success that it became the highest-grossing Superman film of all time.
We will be seeing Henry Cavill play Superman again in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice and Justice League.
