Nicky Oppenheimer, whose full name is Nicholas F. Oppenherimer is a South African – British businessman and chairman of ‘De Beers’ diamond mining company, as well as of ‘Diamond Trading Company’.
In July, 2012, he sold his 40% of the company to ‘Anglo American’ for $5.1 billion. Anglo American’s ownership of De Beers was now to 85%.
The remaining 15% is owned by the government of Botswana. Some said that De Beers was sold because there was no clear successor to Nicky.
