#4: Andrew Jackson – $120 million

Jackson was born into a recently immigrated Scots-Irish farming family on March 15, 1767.

The 7th President of the United States (1829-1837), Jackson and his family supported the revolutionary cause acted as a courier, and then at age of 13 he was captured by the British.

He helped found the state of Tennessee and then was elected to the U.S. House of Representatives which led to a job to the U.S. Senate.

Few years later he was become colonel in the Tennessee militia, which later become his political as well as military base.

In 1804, Jackson owned hundreds of slaves and made them work on the new Hermitage plantation he acquired.

His national fame came in the War of 1812, where he won decisive victories over the Indians and then over the main British invasion army.

As president, he faced a threat of secession from South Carolina over the “Tariff of Abominations” which Congress had enacted under Adams.

His properties were real estate, 300 slaves, inheritance plus the money from his wife.
