12. Johan Santana – Net worth $65 million
Venezuelan starting pitcher Johan Santana played for the Minnesota Twins from 2000 and then joined the New York mets in 2008. He is currently a free agent.
Santana threw the first no-hitter in the history of the Mets in 2012, but his career nearly didn’t happen at all, when he was told to pitch during his training at Houston Astros’ academy in 1994 and nearly quit. Thankfully he didn’t, and went on to sign a massive $137.5 million contract with the Mets making him one of the richest baseball players of all time.
Santana has poured his money into various causes, and founded the Johan Santana Foundation which provides baseball gloves and bats to disadvantaged children. The proceeds from his wine go towards helping to support the families of victims of 9/11.
