5. Renault (Estimated Value: $29 billion)
Renault Formula 1 team may be one of the back-markers of 2016 Formula 1 season. But the other team whose engine supplied by this manufacturer, Red Bull Racing, finished the season as the second best.
And if we look back years further, many former Formula 1 World Champions won their titles with a Renault-engine-powered car. In total, Renault engine has won a dozen World Champion titles. Among those champions are Nigel Mansell, Damon Hill, Jacques Villeneuve, Michael Schumacher, Alain Prost, Fernando Alonso, and Sebastian Vettel.
The French company, Groupe Renault, was founded over one century ago. More than one hundred thousand people work for it in automobiles, luxury cars, and financing industry. And they generate more than $50 billion a year. With such income, it should come as no surprise that Renault’s market cap, as Forbes estimated, reaches $29 billion.
Renault is definitely one of the world’s leading companies. Its market cap is not the only thing breaking into Forbes’ top 500 list. Its sales revenue, profit, assets, and market value are also on the top 500 list.
