The Petronas twin-tower in Malaysia is like a symbol of the company’s strong being and high achievement, especially in oil and gas industry. The Malaysian Petrolium Nasional Berhad generates a staggering $100 billion of revenue and $20 billion of net income. So, it should come as no surprise that the company’s market cap is around $11.2 billion.
Fifty thousand employees work for this Malaysian-government-owned company since 1974. And for the past three years, those fifty thousand people have been holding their head up high for the company’s contribution to the Mercedes AMG Petronas Formula 1 team’s success.
The Mercs have won three consecutive constructor’s championship. And Petronas, through its products of fuel and lubricants, has been huge contributors to this amazing success. Petronas does not just supply the team’s fuel and lubricants. But the company researches and develops them especially for this sport.
Petronas joined Formula 1 in 1995 when the company became the exclusive premium partner of Sauber team (which later became BMW Sauber). And in 2009, it switches to Mercedes team which was newly formed that season.
