The history of the family company dates way back to the 1880s when Samuel Curtis Johnson, Sr. started a parquet flooring company. As he passed away, his son took over the business. But when his son died, he did not leave any will.
Thus, the ownership of SC Johnson was divided between Samuel’s two grandsons. And one of his great grandsons, Herbert Frisk Johnson III, is currently acting as the company’s Chairman and CEO.
