8. Sergio Garcia – $43,598,914
Sergio Garcia, also known as El Niño, was the world number two in 2008. Today, he is ranked 11th. Last week he was ranked 10th, but Branden Grace knocked him and several others off from the top 10 rank.
Sergio was born on January 9, 1980. He turned pro when he was nineteen years old. Throughout his entire career, he has won 29 professional tournaments including 9 PGA Tour titles. Along with those, he has earned a total of $43,598,914 prize money.
Being in the top 10 of our richest golfers list does not mean he had a smooth-sailing career either. He struggled from time to time, especially in 2009. That year, he had a very disappointing season. Then, he decided to take a break from golf.
Sergio had some issues with Tiger Woods. They had a public feud over an incident during the third round of 2013 Players Championship. He made a racist statement about Tiger which he later apologized for.
