6. Joe Sakic – net worth $60 million
Now retired, Joe Sakic played his entire professional career with the Colorado Avalanche, first drafted in 1987, and known then as the Quebec Nordiques.
In 1997, Sakic was offered a $21 million deal with the New York Rangers and the Avalanche were challenged to match the princely sum. They clearly thought he was worth it, because they did, strengthening his place on the team.
After his retirement, Sakic became an executive advisor for the Avalanche in 2010, and was elected to the Hockey Hall of Fame in 2012.
