Ralph Dale Earnhardt, better known as Dale Earnhardt, was an American race car driver and team owner who began his career in 1975 when he drove in the 1975 World 600 at Charlotte Motor Speedway as part of the Winston Cup Series.
Nicknamed The Intimidator, he was one of the best NASCAR drivers of all time, winning a total of 76 races over the course of his career, including 1 Daytona 500 victory in 1998 and 7 NASCAR Winston Cup Championships.
Dale Earnhardt Sr. was the 1979 Winston Cup Series ‘Rookie of the Year’ and was inducted into the Motorsports Hall of Fame, the International Motorsports Hall of Fame and the NASCAR Hall of Fame.
