10. Miami Heat – $1.3 billion
Miami Heat’s value temperature rose up 11% from previous season’s to $1.3 billion. Having won three championships and catchy awesome name, it should come as no surprise that this team’s biggest value is within the market.
Micky Arison, the team’s owner, probably had seen this coming. That could be why he decided to buy it in 1988. Back then, he only had to pay $33 million. Even after inflation, that is still way less that the team’s current value.
Last season, the Heat warmed a total of $180 million of revenue and $20.8 million of operating income. That is a little low considering its amount of revenue. Perhaps paying nearly $100 million for the players’ salary is one of the reasons why.
On the downside, the team owes 7% of debt. In addition to that, it is struggling after LeBron James left to Cleveland Cavaliers.
