After becoming president of the Rock Island Oil & Refining Company, he renamed it into Koch Industries in honor of his father.
Before producing a wide variety of well-known brands like Stainmaster carpet, the Lycra brand of spandex fiber, Dixie Cup and many others, the Koch Industries was involved exclusively in oil refining and chemicals.
In 2010, Koch was the second-largest privately held company by revenue in the USA.
Today, because of the company and because he is a smart guy, Charles’s fortune is estimated to $42.9 billion.
