In 1964, Ramsay founded one a private psychiatric hospital in Sydney that evolved into Ramsay Health Care, a private provider of healthcare in UK, Australia, France, Indonesia and Malaysia, specialised in psychiatric care, surgery and rehabilitation. Paul Ramsay was chairman of the board

Paul Ramsay, also was the chairman of Ramsay Youth Services, a charity group for young people. In 2002, for its philanthropy, he became the Officer of the Order of Australia and in 2011, he donated $300,000 to Kevin Spacey Foundation
Paul Ramsay died at the age of 78 in his home in Bowral on 1 May 2014.
