Andrew Forrest born in 1961 in Perth, is a Western Australia mining magnate.
After he graduated he worked as a stockbroke at Kirke Securities and Jacksons. Around 1930 he became the founding CEO of Minara Resources, one of the major mining companies of Australia. Minara Resources Pty Ltd is one of the top ten nickel mines in Australia.
In 2003 he founded Fortescue Metals Group, which brought him much greater success in the simple business of digging up and delivering iron ore to China.
He once was Australia’s richest man with a net worth of $12.7 billion.
Andrew Forrest is also recognised for his work on the issue of indigenous disadvantage using Fortescue Metals Group’s Vocational Training and Employment Centre to deliver jobs employment in the mining industry to the indigenous communities.
