The billionaire was the chairman of Harrods for 25 years, and in 2010 he sold Harrods to Qatar Holding for a reported $2.4 billion.
He also sold London football club Fulham FC to Shahid Khan in July 2013 for $300 million, and the lease of 75 Rockefeller in New York in 2012.
Al Fayed owns the Ritz Hotel in Paris and is now interested in online retail. He bought U.K.-based discount fashion website Cocosa and also a stake in Issa, Princess Kate Middleton’s favorite designer brand.
