Aristotelis Mistakidis is the richest Greek on our list in October 2026, with an estimated net worth of $4.7 billion. This top 10 covers the wealthiest people who are Greek by citizenship, birth or family, including diaspora billionaires who built their money abroad. John Catsimatidis follows at about $4.5 billion, and the old number one on this list no longer qualifies.
| Rank | Name | Net worth |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | Aristotelis Mistakidis | $4.7 billion |
| 2 | John Catsimatidis | $4.5 billion |
| 3 | Spiros Latsis | $3.5 billion |
| 4 | George Argyros | $3 billion |
| 5 | C. Dean Metropoulos | $2.8 billion |
| 6 | Vardinoyannis family | $2.3 billion |
| 7 | Philip Niarchos | About $2 billion |
| 8 | Peter Livanos | About $1.9 billion |
| 9 | Evangelos Marinakis | About $1.5 billion |
| 10 | Stelios Haji-Ioannou | About $1.2 billion |
10. Stelios Haji-Ioannou: Net worth about $1.2 billion
The founder of easyJet is the man behind the orange branding that now sits on everything from cruises to pizza. His family stake in the airline was worth roughly £855 million in 2021, after being diluted from 25.3% to about 15%.
We estimate his wealth near $1.2 billion today, split between that shareholding and the licensing company that owns the easy brand. That is far below the $2.9 billion we listed in the old version, because the airline stake has shrunk and the 2021 value is the last firm reference we have.
9. Evangelos Marinakis: Net worth about $1.5 billion
Marinakis, born in Piraeus in 1967, is a shipping owner who has also collected football clubs and newspapers. He bought a majority of Olympiacos in 2010 and Nottingham Forest in 2017, and he took over the Lambrakis press group the same year. His media company, Alter Ego Media, listed on the Athens Stock Exchange in January 2025.
We estimate the total at about $1.5 billion, adding his fleet and holdings to the clubs and media business. The estimate is ours, since no public filing lists his full wealth.
8. Peter Livanos: Net worth about $1.9 billion
Livanos runs Ceres Hellenic Shipping, described as the largest Greek fleet by tonnage, and runs a small ferry line with Russian-built hydrofoils to the Greek islands. He was also a major shareholder of Aston Martin at one point.
His last public figure was about $1.7 billion in 2015. We raised it by the maximum 10% allowed for old figures, and we treat the result as soft.
7. Philip Niarchos: Net worth about $2 billion
Philip Niarchos is the eldest son of shipping owner Stavros Niarchos and co-president of the Stavros Niarchos Foundation, which has given out $3.3 billion across 5,000 grants. He also holds his father’s art collection, often counted among the best Impressionist and modern collections in private hands.
A 2008 estimate had his wealth at £850 million. We put it near $2 billion today, mostly because of the art, which has appreciated far more than ships.
6. Vardinoyannis family: Net worth $2.3 billion
Vardis Vardinoyannis (1933 to 2024) built a family group around the Motor Oil Hellas refinery, with stakes in shipping, banking, media, real estate and hotels. His fortune stood at $2.3 billion at the time of his death in 2024.
We list the family as a unit because the group stays under family control. The figure uses the last published wealth number, with no growth added, in line with how we treat the deceased.
5. C. Dean Metropoulos: Net worth $2.8 billion
Born in Tripoli, Greece, in 1946, Metropoulos moved to the US as a boy and made his money turning around food brands. He co-owned Hostess Brands with Apollo, and bought Pabst Brewing in 2010 then sold it in 2014 for $700 million, a $550 million profit.
The last published count, from 2020, was $2.6 billion. We added the capped 10% for six quiet years and rounded to $2.8 billion.
4. George Argyros: Net worth $3 billion
Argyros, born in Detroit in 1937, is the grandson of Greek immigrants and made his fortune in real estate through his firm Arnel & Affiliates. It owns about 5,500 apartments in Orange County and nearly 2 million square feet of commercial property in Southern California.
He also co-bought the airline AirCal in 1981 and sold it to American Airlines in 1987, and he owned the Seattle Mariners from 1981 to 1989. The old list had him at $2.2 billion, and a newer figure of around $3 billion replaced it.
3. Spiros Latsis: Net worth $3.5 billion
Latsis, born in 1946, chairs the family’s EFG group and runs the business his father John built from a shipping and construction base in 1938. The family’s largest holding is a Luxembourg private bank, EFG Bank, and a stake of over 40% in the Zurich-listed EFG International.
A 2018 count put him at $3.2 billion. We added the capped 10% to land at $3.5 billion for 2026, and we still treat the figure as a careful estimate.
2. John Catsimatidis: Net worth $4.5 billion
Born on the island of Nisyros in 1948, Catsimatidis runs the Red Apple Group, which owns the Gristedes and D’Agostino supermarkets in Manhattan, the United Refining Company and the radio station WABC. He grew up in New York after leaving Greece as a child.
His wealth has grown from $3.1 billion in the old version to about $4.5 billion in the latest published estimate. The mix is refining profit, real estate and a chain of stores that most New Yorkers walk past daily.
1. Aristotelis Mistakidis: Net worth $4.7 billion
Mistakidis was born in Rome in 1961 and spent about 25 years at Glencore and its predecessor, Marc Rich & Co., rising to a senior metals executive. He left at the end of 2018 and began investing in banking, shipping and real estate, including control of Aegean Baltic Bank.
In November 2025 he became majority owner of the basketball club PAOK BC. His fortune was valued at about $4.2 billion on the annual 2026 list and about $4.7 billion in real time in August 2026. We take the higher figure, which makes him the richest Greek on our list.

How we estimate net worth
Our estimates are based on public reporting, company valuations, and deal and earnings figures all compiled in an internal valuation model. They are approximate, and figures change over time as new information emerges.
For this list we used company stake values, disclosed sale prices such as the 2014 Pabst sale, and the most recent published wealth figures. Where a figure was more than two years old, we raised it by no more than 10% and say so.
