John A. Catsimatidis, born on September 7, 1948, is the owner, CEO and Chairman of Gristedes Foods, the largest grocery chain in Manhattan.
Also, he owns the Red Apple Group, a real estate company with almost $800 million in holdings, the Hellenic Times, a Greek-American newspaper based in Manhattan, and he is also the CEO and Chairman of the Red Apple Group subsidiary, United Refining Company.
Not only he is an oil and grocery store tycoon, but also a wannabe politician. If you didn’t know, he lost a bid to become New York mayor in 2013.
