The billionaire went to the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro, studying mathematics.
And while a student, he joined the IT department of investment bank Pactual as an intern in 1989.
Eventually, Andre Esteves acquired control of the bank and sold it to UBS in 2006, forming the subsidiary UBS Pactual.
