Karl Hans Albrecht was a German entrepreneur who founded the supermarket chain Aldi with his brother, Theo.
By 1961, he and his brother split the business. Karl took the stores in southern Germany under the name of Aldi sud, and his brother got the stores in mainland Europe.
The billionaire expanded his business in America and overseas (more than 1.3000 stores in the U.S. and 3.500 in other countries).
When Karl Albrecht died in July 2014, he was the richest person in Germany.
