Akira Mori is the leader of Mori Trust, an estate that operates no less than 89 rental buildings and 29 hotels, this including the opulent Shangri-La Hotel in Tokyo.
Along with his late brother, Akira Mori inherited a fortune from his father, and the billionaire focused on office buildings, apartment blocks and hotels in high-rent districts of Tokyo.
Even though the business is growing, the company felt the hit from earthquake, them spending millions on developing an emergency information-sharing network among main office buildings and other properties. An in-house disaster-response headquarters was set up to help the residents unable to return home.
