Odd Reitan opened his first store, Shock Prices, in 1972, and now has the fifth-largest company in Norway, Reitan Group, a Norwegian wholesaler and retail franchiser.
The company racked up nearly $12 billion in the last fiscal year from the REMA 1000 grocery stores, convenience stores, real estate, and energy and fuel operations.
Two years ago Reitan published a book where he was planning to take over the country without people’s votes. His move was called an undemocratic dirt.
