He is the main shareholder in the fashion company H&M, was the wealthiest person in Sweden in 2013 too and is the 17th richest person in the world.
His father, Erling Persson founded H&M in 1946 when he was on a trip to the United States and came up with the business idea of offering fashionable clothing at attractive prices.
He first opened a shop with just women’s clothing and named it “Hennes”, which means “for her” and/or “hers”. Then, he bought the apparel retailer Mauritz Widforss, included a menswear collection and changed the name to “Hennes & Mauritz”.
Stefan took over the company from his father in 1982 and served as its manager until 1998.
He also owns a substantial stake in the Swedish technology company, Hexagon AB.
At this moment, his net worth is estimated to be $31.3 Billion.
