1Samuel ‘Black Sam’ Bellamy – $120 million
Captain Samuel Bellamy was born in 1689, in Hittisleigh, Devon, England and is #1 from our top list.
Better known as ‘Black Sam’, the English pirate operated in the early 18th century.
He collected his fortune patrolling the waters around and off the coast of New England, but the biggest prize came in February 1717, when he captured Whydah.
Whydah was a slave ship holding more than 4.5 tons of gold and silver.
Funny thing. Pirates have a heart. After Samuel Bellamy took Whydah, he gave one of his old ships to the defeated crew.
Well, ain’t that generous? Actually, this is how he earned his nickname ‘Prince of Pirates’ and ‘Robin Hood’s Men’.
On April 26, 1717, Black Sam sank somewhere off Cape Cod, at a very young age.
These were the Richest Real-Life Pirates!
