We continue our top list with Sir Henry Morgan.
Nicknamed ‘Barbadosed’, he was a Welsh pirate and admiral of the English Royal navy, becoming one of the most notorious and successful privateers in history, as well as one of the most dangerous pirates who worked in the Spanish Main.
Apparently he was also one of the most ruthless privateers, and that helped him to make a name for himself.
Henry Morgan was featured in several films and books, such as Rafael Sabatini’s novel ‘Captain Blood’, John Steinbeck’s first novel ‘Cup of Gold’, 1935 film ‘Captain Blood’, 1941 film ‘Horror Island’, 1942 film ‘The Black Swan’, 1961 film ‘Morgan, the Pirate’, 1961 film ‘Pirates of Tortuga’, 2006 ‘True Caribbean Pirates’ and 2013 documentary ‘The Unsinkable Henry Morgan’.
