2- John de Mol, Jr. – $2.2 billion
The Dutch media tycoon is the man behind production companies Endemol and Talpa.
What I mean is that in 2010 John de Mol, Jr. launched a new reality competition series called The Voice of Holland.
It had an immediate success in the Netherlands and the other countries wanted it too. So it was sold to several other countries around the globe.
And so The Voice was born on 27 April 2011 on NBC with de Mol and Mark Burnett as executive producers.
You know that in The Voice, the singing auditions are ‘blind’ meaning that the jury is turned with their back to the competitors and they choose only because of the voice, not the appearance.
There is no point going into details because I’m sure you already know the concept.
De Mol is one of the 500 richest people in the world and among 10 richest TV show creators. Pretty amazing for a businessman, huh?
