2Marques de Riscal, Rioja, Spain
This hotel had our attention from the start thanks to its odd design.
Created by Frank Gehry, Marques de Riscal has become a luxury retreat since its unveiling in 2006.
Its interior bears the stamp of Frank Gehry’s design: tilted walls, zig zag windows and cathedral-height ceilings that make Marques de Riscal a romantic getaway, and celebrities like Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie seem to prefer too.
Featuring 43 rooms and suites, Marques de Riscal also has 2 dining venues, including the Michelin-starred Marques de Riscal Restaurant and the chic Bistro 1860 Restaurant, as well as a contemporary-styled lounge which provides a seductive retreat and it is the ideal way to relax after enjoying a tasteful meal.
If you seek for a proper wine-tasting trip, Rioja is more exotic than Napa and less pretentious than Burgundy.
The hotel has an unique wine cellar that gives a modern touch to its Wine Bar, a venue where serious wine drinkers can enjoy both Marques de Riscal wines and great wines of the world.
