5. His political view
Controversy rose as some people think Sean Connery shouldn’t have been knighted. Sean has been openly known not just as a member, but also as a major contributor to the Scottish National Party (SNP).
This party has been campaigning for Scottish independence from the United Kingdom, which is ruled by the Queen. So the fact that he accepted the Knight Bachelor is rather contradictory.
Sean donated a huge amount of money to SNP from time to time. But since he is living outside the UK, there was a period of time when he could not support the party financially due to UK Parliament legislation.
Even though Sean is one of the most legendary Scottish men, he is not planning to return home. He even declared that he would not do that until his country becomes independent. Until today, he still believes that this can still happen during his lifetime.
