1. Ferrari 12Cilindri Spider: about $515,000
Ferrari unveiled the 12Cilindri in Miami Beach on May 3, 2024. Its 6.5-liter V12 produces 830 PS (819 hp) at 9,250 rpm, and the Spider adds an open roof to the last great front-engine Ferrari V12 grand tourer.
Reports put the US base price near $515,000, and well-optioned cars reach over $600,000. Dealers list new examples above $700,000.
How we valued it: US starting price as reported across several 2026 price listings, before options. Ferrari does not publish a fixed US price.
2. Aston Martin Vanquish Volante: about $500,000
The latest Vanquish is a V12 grand tourer, and the Volante is its convertible. Published US starting prices range from about $480,000 to just over $500,000, and dealer stickers run well above that once options are added.
Aston Martin’s Vanquish dates back to 2001, when Ian Callum designed the original.
How we valued it: Range of published US starting prices for the 2026 Volante. Options can add $50,000 to $100,000.
3. Bentley Continental GTC Speed: about $440,000
The four-seat Continental GTC remains the grand tourer to pick if you want to bring friends. A US dealer sticker for a 2026 Speed in Touring Specification shows $438,280, and other cars are advertised near $451,000.
Bentley offers the Continental GT as a coupe or convertible.
How we valued it: Dealer MSRP for one 2026 Touring Specification car, not a base price. We label it as an estimate.
4. Ferrari 296 GTS: about $368,000
The 296 is a plug-in hybrid with a twin-turbo V6 and an electric motor, giving a combined 830 PS (819 hp). The GTS is the folding hard-top convertible version.
The US MSRP is reported at about $368,134 for 2026, with dealer cars listed from about $441,000.
How we valued it: Most commonly reported US MSRP for the 2026 GTS, before options.
5. McLaren Artura Spider: roughly $320,000 to $345,000
The Artura is McLaren’s V6 hybrid, with 680 PS (671 hp) from a 3.0-liter twin-turbo engine and an electric motor. The Spider is the roof-off version.
Listings show base prices from about $320,000 to $345,000, and dealer cars from about $269,000 to $303,000 as asking prices.
How we valued it: A range, because the 2026 US price is not confirmed from an official sheet.
6. Mercedes-AMG SL 63: about $187,000
The seventh-generation SL (R232) was introduced on October 28, 2021, and it swapped the folding metal roof for a fabric roof that saves 21 kg (46 lb).
A 2026 SL 63 is listed at roughly $187,000, while the top E Performance version starts near $208,000.
How we valued it: Reported starting MSRP for the 2026 SL 63.
7. Porsche 911 Carrera Cabriolet: $140,900 before destination
The 911 Cabriolet is the benchmark everyday convertible. Porsche’s research page lists a starting MSRP of $140,900, and sources that include destination show about $149,400.
It is the cheapest car on our list that still counts as a true sports car.

8. BMW Z4 M40i Final Edition: $78,675 including destination
BMW ended Z4 production in May 2026 at the Magna Steyr plant in Graz, Austria, with no direct replacement. A limited Final Edition based on the M40i started at $78,675.

9. Chevrolet Corvette Stingray Convertible: from $76,995 at 2025 launch
The 2025 Corvette launched at $69,995 for the coupe and $76,995 for the convertible. The 2025 model year also dropped several paint colors.
The mid-engine layout gives a hard-top convertible at a price far below the European cars.
How we valued it: The 2025 launch base price. We did not verify the 2026 figure, so check the current sticker.
What is coming next?
Ferrari unveiled the Amalfi Spider on March 12, 2026. The Amalfi coupe, which replaces the Roma, was announced with an estimated starting price of $283,000, and the convertible mechanism is expected to add weight and cost. We will rank it once a price is published.
What changed since our 2014 list?
Several cars from 2014, including the Audi R8 Spyder, Lamborghini Gallardo Spyder and Mercedes SLS AMG, are no longer on sale new, and the Porsche 918 Spyder was a limited run. The new list is led by hybrids and V12s, and the BMW Z4 has now ended production.
