8. Mira Sorvino
With descended Italian roots from her father’s side, Mira is a product of the University of Harvard which she finished in 1989 with magna cum laude.
Here she was an exchange student in Beijing for an year, after that completing her time at Harvard with a degree in East Asian Studies.
So far so good, she obtained an ivy league degree and in the same time learned Mandarin Chinese, speaking it fluently.
But this wasn’t enough for her and pursued, beside the acting career, a normal job. By normal, i am referring to something she wanted to pursue.
So she became a member of Amnesty International and was granted with honors because she had long lasting human rights and philanthropic activities.
The non-governmental organization was the start of her human rights activism later becoming a U.N Goodwill Ambassador to Combat Human Trafficking.
The peak of this career granted her the opportunity to lobby in the Congress of the United States for the abolish of the human trafficking in the Dafur region in western Sudan.
