Carlisle defended the team of England and played also for some famous teams like Leeds United, Blackpool or Queens Park Rangers.
But the defender gave football the second chance because even from high school he showed interest in knowledge obtaining 10 A grades at the GCSE exams.
Due to an injury he pursued his thirst for knowledge and went to Ealing, Hammersmith and West London College where he was a straight A student in mathematics and politics.
So if you heard by now a former player commenting or working at a sport channel I bet you he hasn’t a degree in Professional Sports Writing and Broadcasting like the one Carlisle obtained from Staffordshire University.
So one of the smartest soccer players made it clear that during injuries you can do something else beside recovery, and improve yourself because you don’t know when a injury might end your career for good.
But the main reason we consider him one of the smartest soccer players is that he won the “Britain’s Brainiest Footballer” a contest where soccer players test their intelligence and respond to different questions from mathematics, english and general knowledge.
After winning the show he made it clear that he will use his intelligence to help the sport and became a former player who acts to remove the racism and homophobia from soccer with the use of the Professional Footballers’ Association.
