3. FedEx Cup (Golf): $10 million
Golf is popularly known as an expensive sport to play. Not just the cost to rent the venue but also the expensive gears needed especially the golf clubs (woods, irons, and putters).
The FedEx Cup is a part of a PGA Tour, which is played in USA and North America. The FedEx Cup was first founded in 2007. It is the first men’s professional golf tournament which uses playoff system.
This tournament has a total pool of $35 million cash prize. $10 million from it is given to the winner. And the rest, $25 million, is divided among other 149 players competing in the tournament.
The runner-up gets $3 million, 3rd place $2 million, 4th place $1.5 million, 5th place $1 million, and so on. Even the players who don’t make it to the top 125 still get a cash prize of $32,000 each (for 126th through 150th place).
