12. Michigan ($23,750 per acre)
The State of Michigan is also known as the Great Lake State because it is located in the Great Lakes of United States. In fact, the name “Michigan” itself comes from Ojibwa’s mishigamaa which means large water. The lakes are not just large but also beautiful, as you can see on the picture above.
Even though the state is ranked 12th on our list based on their land price per acre, which is $23,750, Michigan is ranked 7th highest in terms of total land value. Being the 21st largest state in United States with 36.4 million acres of land available, this state contributes $865 billion to US’ national land value.
For comparison, here are some actual prices of property on sale in Michigan:
- 9.6 acres of private Lake Michigan frontage land in the coastal city of Frankfort, Benzie County is currently on sale for $898,000.
- A 0.07-acre house of four bedrooms and three bathrooms with private access to Lake Michigan, same city as the land above, is on sale for a staggering $1.2 million.
