Ten Cars of the 1980s You Still Want to Drive

5. Ford RS 200

Halfway trough the list, and on the fifth position we have a car manufactured by the Ford Motor Company, and its name is Ford RS 200.

The mid-engined, four-wheel drive sports car  was based on Ford’s Group B rally car and was designed to comply with FIA homologation regulations.

The FIA homologation rules required the construction of at least 200 road-legal vehicles, and Ford manufactured these 200 units with spare parts for another 20+ vehicles put aside for the racing teams.

Fitted with a 1.8 L (110 CID) Straight-4 engine, and producing 444 hp at 8,000 rpm the Rs 200 could reach a top speed of 190 km/h.

Its original bodywork of the RS 200 was latter bought by Banham Conversions, who used it to make a kit car version based on the Austin Maestro.
