The letters “XO” are seen on The Weeknd’s album cover. And it’s basically branded on his posters and other promotion images. But what do they mean though?
XO is indeed The Weeknd’s brand. It is also the name of the label record he developed as a joint venture with Republic Records, where he signed up for his music contract.
The Weeknd had never really explained what his XO mean. The common meaning of XO is that they represent the symbol or emoticon for an affectionate message. X for a kiss, and O for a hug. And that could probably be what The Weeknd’s XO mean.
However, according to GQ magazine and VH1, his XO actually refer to drugs. The words on the street say that X is what you call ecstasy and O is oxycodone. This didn’t come out of nowhere.
