These are the 21 Things I Am Grateful for this Year
Since the Thanksgiving is coming up (26th November) I thought I’d share some things that I am grateful for this year. I haven’t done this before, so please have patience with me.
People who celebrate Thanksgiving every year do this all the time, and I find it a really good way to let everybody know that you love them.
Because sometimes we take things like water, and food for grated, Thanksgiving is a good idea to celebrate those things and make the best of it.
And other times we forget to stop for a minute and appreciate what’s right in front of us, which is why this holiday isn’t all about who cooks the best turkey, but also the opportunity we have to thank everyone.
The opportunity to make things better with everyone, the possibility to tell whoever is listening the things we are grateful for.
I took the same chance and now I’m telling you which are the things I’m grateful for this year! Check it out:
1. Life
In the light of the recent events I will start this topic by saying I’m grateful to be alive. I pray for the souls of those who have died and for the good health of those who are still in hospitals. #PrayforParis #Colectiv
2. Health
I’m thankful that I am healthy enough to be able to spread the love, and thank you guys for everything.
3. Family
The next thing I’m grateful for is my family. It is true that you can’t choose them, and sometimes you might think you hate them, but they are there for you, because that’s what families are for.
4. Job
I’ll continue the list of things that I’m grateful for with my job. I’ve been doing this for a bit over two years and I can say I have never been happier. It is true, I had my many moments when I doubt myself, but the team behind Alux was there to support me. I’m thankful for them too, and for their support.
Thank you for not giving up on me!
5. You
Yes, I’m thankful for you, the reader of this story, the one that has been by my side since I first started. I really appreciate your support and I’m thankful that you read my work.
Without you, I wouldn’t be here. I feel like I’m giving a big speech now, but that’s the truth, thank you dear friend!
6. Freedom of Speech
I’m thankful that I’m able to write this, because without any freedom of speech I couldn’t be able to. I’m grateful that I can express my humble opinions to the world, even though sometimes I don’t do it, because I believe no one would care. Perhaps I’m wrong.
7. Pain
This might sound like a line from a cheesy movie, but I’m grateful that I’ve experienced pain, because without it, I wouldn’t be able to experience happy things.
Like I said in my story about quotes that inspire me, “Pain is temporary, quitting is forever.” I will go ahead and give you an advice here, whatever it might hurt now, things are always getting better. Just hang in there!
8. Anonymous
I’m grateful that someone is brave enough to stand against those who make wrong. Big thumbs up!
9. Kindness of Strangers
I’m thankful that there’s still is some faith in humanity left there. Whenever I see a gesture of kindness my tears start running down my face. I just can’t help it, that’s how I feel when my faith in humanity is restored.
10. Unity
I’m surprised, happily surprised for this. I thought that this feeling won’t be possible, I started loosing my hope that we will ever be united as one.
And again, in the light of recent events that have marked us all forever, I was happy to see that people are acting like a whole. I’m thankful that people have found a way to stay together, even though it took some big tragedies to make it happen.
11. Holidays
I’m thankful for holidays, but especially for the opportunity we have to spend some time with our loved ones. We get to cherish the moments we spend at Christmas dinner with our families smiling, for a long time.
I’m more grateful to this Thanksgiving, that we in Romania do not celebrate, that has allowed me to write about things I’m grateful for, things that I love and never had the chance to say it.
12. Art
Yes, I’m thankful that my eyes get to see art everywhere I go. I want to thanks those who spend their time creating art, for those talented people I only have the best wishes and love.
13. Music
“Music is what feelings look like”, this quote is not in vain. Thanksgiving is a good opportunity to appreciate those who make music, and make our lives a lot better.
14. Real Friendships
Although haven’t had much of those, I come to appreciate the few friends I still have. With holidays coming, I did my removed some “friends” from my life, but the remaining kind of sadness me. Well, I have fewer friends, but I know I can count on them anytime!
15. The Smell of Coffee in the Morning
Or just coffee in general. In the morning it brightens up my day and puts my sensors in moving faster. It is the first thing I do when I wake up in the morning. Starting my mornings on the porch, with coffee and a good book it is all I have ever wanted.
16. The Abundance of Food and Culture in the world
I’m so glad and thankful that there are still places where I can feel like home. I eat to stay alive, not I live to eat, but choosing a good meal doesn’t hurt.
And about the culture, I’m grateful for my people’s culture and history, and I can’t wait to travel the world to meet more people and find out about their culture.
17. Wisdom that comes with Age
I’m grateful that now I don’t need to explain myself over and over to my family, that I am my own person and that I can make decision by myself that can benefit my future.
18. Nature
I’m more of an outdoor person who likes to travel and see places with breathtaking views. I’m grateful that the nature is there to show me those place and I get to enjoy them every day.
19. Entertainment
I’m grateful for entertainment, especially for actors who provide the fun I need. I’m a big TV series fan, so I appreciate when a good actor who can make me believe in the story is telling.
20. Internet
Yes, I’m grateful that I’m able to browse the internet and find out about things that my family would never have thought me. I have internet to thank for all the things I’ve learned among the years, and I’m grateful that my thinking is not like as my parents’.
21. Me
Last but not least, I’m grateful for me, for being me. I’m thankful to those people who didn’t believed in me and who made me even more determined to follow my dreams.
I’m grateful that I am myself, with good and bad, and that I’m learning something different everyday.
