8. Once Tried To Export Granite, Marble & Diamonds but Went For the Gold
The life of insurance seller was clearly not the life he wanted to have. After the attempt to make some extra cash from selling insurance policies he tried his luck in other areas.
He went to different areas this time and tried to export granite, marble and diamonds. The business went great for a while.
The shovel miners would come to his Rio office with diamonds in little bags and Batista would introduce them to Jewish dealers from Portugal and Antwerp. All he won from it was the commission on each sale.
Obviously that wasn’t enough for Batista. Eventually he moved on trading gold, the business that made him his first millions.
